NEW PRODUCTS FROM AKZO NOBEL'S SIKKENS BRAND REPRESENT NEXT WAVE OF TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP
Troy, Mich., April 14, 2004 - Akzo Nobel's Decorative Coatings unit is expanding its Sikkens wood care line with the introduction of several new products over the next two years, most of which will use the company's premium European alkyd technology.
"These new products epitomize the next wave of Akzo Nobel technology leadership in North America," said Gerald Koutavas, Sikkens Profit Center Manager, Akzo Nobel Decorative Coatings North America. "They will build on our history of technology and product leadership.
"We're again advancing the state of the art with the introduction of our proven European alkyd technology, which we're tailoring to North American tastes and lifestyles."
The company is launching its next wave of product leadership with European alkyd emulsion technology and high solids versions of its premium Rubbol solid and Cetol translucent stains later this year and in 2005.
The world's largest coatings manufacturer, Akzo Nobel is a leader in research and development and has earned a strong reputation for its alkyd technology.

The new-to-North America formulations will provide a range of benefits including beautiful appearance, excellent durability, superior penetration and adhesion, ease of use and clean-up.
